Considering Adoption?Caring, Compassionate, Experienced.

Rebecca and Ben Family

Our Love Story:
We met through a mutual friend who was one of Rebecca's closest college roommates and a pediatrician at Columbia University when Ben was in his residency program. Our friend thought Ben was so kind and compassionate with her young patients, and she also knew Rebecca would appreciate Ben's positive spirit, sense of humor, and intelligence. She thought Ben would appreciate the same in Rebecca. We knew right away that we were a perfect match and have been together for over 6 years, and married for almost 4. We are so happy in our marriage and feel grateful and more connected every day. Our relationship is based on true love, mutual commitment, deep respect, and joy.

Home:
We recently moved to a 4-story townhouse in a lovely, family-friendly neighborhood in Brooklyn. We live a few blocks from a beautiful park, several wonderful playgrounds, a zoo, and a huge library. We have several bedrooms in our house, including one we have designated as the nursery. We love to have friends over for BBQs in the backyard, weekend dinners, and holiday parties.

Finances:
We are both in very stable jobs as a physician and a teacher, and our combined income allows us to travel, enjoy a nice lifestyle, and feel secure. We have no debt, beyond our mortgage payments, and feel incredibly lucky to have both considerable savings and retirement funds.

Interest in Adoption:
We have always known we wanted to adopt children. Even if we were able to have children biologically, we have always been certain that we would adopt. Rebecca's sister is adopted and it has been a huge and wonderful part of her life.

Openness to Birthparents:
We are open to staying in touch with the birthparents. We know how important it is for children to understand their history and all the different pieces of who they are. We would be willing to send pictures and updates, and support the child in meeting their birthparents. We would also be willing to be as supportive and helpful as we can, leading up to the birth.

Child Care Plans:
Rebecca will take at least one year off from her teaching job to be home with the baby. Ben will be able to take at a few weeks off once the baby arrives so we will have time to be together as a family. We also have grandparents (Rebecca's parents) living in the apartment downstairs, who can't wait to help take care of the baby.
