Children:
We became parents through adoption in December 2006 when Blake was born. Blake's birthmother welcomed us into her delivery room so that we would be able to share in the miracle of his birth and we remain forever thankful. He has blue eyes, curly brown hair and will turn 2 in December. We communicate with him by speaking and with sign language. He understands several signs, is using a number of signs and is also quite vocal. He is a happy, confident, curious, and active little boy that loves to climb on things. He has already shown interest in skateboarding, soccer and in Jon's ice hockey gear. He also has a sense of humor, is intelligent, dances to music and loves to flirt with the people that he encounters.

Interests:
Having waited a long time to become parents, we enjoy spending time with our son; he is such a joy. We also take pleasure in gardening, walking, tennis and the very occasional round of golf. While Jon plays on an adult ice-hockey league, Tara is usually uploading and organizing Blake's photos to share. We prefer college football versus NFL and occasionally attend professional hockey games and outdoor concerts. We look forward to Blake having fun while playing organized sports and/or encouraging his interest in music.

Why We Are Pursuing Another Adoption:
We have truly been blessed with the adoption of Blake. The joy and experience we received through the adoption process has led us to move forward in this process again. We also recognize the benefits of a sibling for Blake as well as sharing the love in our family.

Our Home:
We live in a charming city located at the foothills of the Angeles National Forest. Because of this location, we often see deer and other wildlife that come to feed on the lawns and plants in our neighborhood. Our city has the look and feel of a small town with many historic homes. There is an award-winning elementary school located down the street from our house. Our neighbors are loving people; our neighborhood has a mix of parents with grown children as well as younger families. In the morning and afternoons one will find many people walking their dogs and exercising, as well as kids riding their bikes, scooters and skateboards.

Pets:
Recently, our dog Shilo passed away at 17 years of age. We plan to welcome another furry friend into the family in the near future.

Openness to Birth Parent(s):
We keep in contact with Blake's birthmother through email and photographs. We envision something similar, as long as this is agreeable to all involved.

Child Care Plans:
Blake is thriving in a nearby home daycare led by loving grandparents. Blake is one of 3 children. The goal of the daycare is to keep the group small, no more than 4 children to allow for the care and attention young children need. In the event we felt this was not the best environment for Blake or another child, Tara would stay at home.
