Our Love Story:
We meet in junior high school and dated for seven years. We were best friends and did everything together. We broke up for five years, remaining friends during that time. We got back together on Drew's birthday, after he looked into Courtney's eyes from across the room and realized she was the one he loved and the girl he had been looking for all along. We are best friends and couldn't picture life without each other. Our relationship is built on faith with God at the center. We have been married for 4.5 years and have been friends for 17 years.
Children:
None
Home:
We moved into our new home a year and a half ago. It's a five-bedroom on a cul de sac in a wonderful, safe neighborhood. We have a community pool we visit often, and have multiple parks nearby. Several young children live on our street.
Finances:
Drew has a wonderful job as a teacher at a private Christian school, which offers a great family-friendly work environment and stable income, as well as holidays and summers off, which allows for lots of family time and travel. Courtney works from home one to three days a week as a Transplant Coordinator Nurse. She loves her job and is able to be at home while she does it. We live well within our monthly income.
Interest in Adoption:
Courtney has wanted to adopt as long as she can remember, from the time she adopted her first Cabbage Patch Kid. Drew has shared a desire to adopt as well. When we discovered we would have a less then 1% chance of getting pregnant, we knew this was our sign it was time to move forward to adopt. Our family and friends are very excited about our adoption and can't wait to welcome home our new baby.
Openness to Birthparent:
We would be happy to exchange letters, emails, and pictures if that is what the birthmother's desire is. We are committed to raising our child to know they are adopted. We are both open to meeting in person or speaking on the phone throughout the pregnancy and are open to attending doctor's appointments. We are also willing to be there for the birth or at the hospital, depending on the birth mother's wishes.
Child Care Plans:
We are very blessed to have Courtney work from home. She works two weekend days a month, during which Drew would be home to help with the baby. That only leaves six to eight days a month where we need someone else to care for the child. We are very lucky to have Courtney's mom live close and willing to come over and watch the baby while we are both working.
