Dear Birth Mother,
We have long been committed to children as evidenced by our chosen profession-education. After teaching in elementary schools for a number of years, we now are school administrators. Kathie is the Director of Student Services in a school district of 3,000 students and four schools. Nick is the Superintendent of a school district with 1,300 Kindergarten through eighth grade students. We are both very fortunate to fmd ourselves working with young children and teachers on a daily basis. We live in the Central Valley of California, which is a short trip over the mountains from Los Angeles. Our home is situated in a gated community on the west side of town. It is a great neighborhood surrounded by friendly neighbors, lots of active kids, and plenty of things to do in a nearby park. Troy loves to play in the park! Also, located within a couple of blocks is the highest rated school in all of Kern County. We belong to a local country club, which provides the opportunity for many recreational activities. As mentioned before, we have very loving and supportive families that are eager to be involved in the life of a new baby. All of Kathie's family resides in Orange County. She has two younger sisters. Both of her sisters are married and each has three children. Her dad works as a pharmacist and her mother is retired after 32 years of working for the local school district. Nick's family is located in the middle of the central valley. He has one sister who has three children as well. Nick's dad is an instructor at ajunior college and his mother is retired after teaching Kindergarten students for 36 years. Our immediate circle of friends is very supportive. We have a wide range of friends-some with young children, some with teenagers, and even some with grown kids-and they are excited about becoming informal "aunts" and "uncles". Terrific people surround us and they are an important part of our lives.
We have been praying for a second baby for quite some time and know God has a special plan for us. With God's guidance, we are committed to providing a home that is filled with love, laughter, and support for a lifetime. We love children, which is evidenced by our daily work, and we want to raise our children with strong values. We understand what an important gift adoption is, and we would like to assure you that if you decide to place your baby with us, he or she would receive an unlimited amount of attention and care. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. We look forward to meeting you and sharing our hopes to become adoptive parents. Please allow us to introduce ourselves to you in this letter. Our names are Nick and Kathie. We have been happily married for nine years. We know this is a very difficult decision for you, and let us say that we respect your strength and courage to go through the adoption process. We both come from very loving families and, of course, wanted to have our own family as well. After years of struggling to conceive and beginning the process of adoption, God blessed us with our son, Troy, in 2005. We have always thought that an adoption would help us complete our family which would include a sibling for Troy. That brings us to you and our ability to provide a loving, safe, and secure home for your child.
Additional information about our family includes the fact that we have two dogs-both Labrador retrievers named Max and Sable. They love to play, swim and eat!!! They bring us much happiness! We also like to travel. In particular, we follow Kathie's college's football team on the road in the fall. That travel has taken us many places all over the United States. Individually, Nick is an avid golfer and loves to coach baseball. Kathie is an expert in the care of her garden and spends time doing volunteer work. We have many things in common which is the reason we have such a strong and dedicated marriage.
