Considering Adoption?Caring, Compassionate, Experienced.

Dear Birth Mother,

Scott JenAs we prepared to write you this letter about our dream of adopting your baby, we realize that  you will be giving us the most precious gift in the world- we cannot begin to thank you for considering us as parents for your baby. We know how difficult a decision this must be for you and we want you to know that we will spend every day of our lives providing every bit of love your baby deserves, as well as all the opportunities for your baby to have a happy and fulfilling life.

About Us

Scott and I came into each other’s lives six years ago through an unusual (and happily, successful!) way-internet dating.  We were both a little nervous about dating someone you meet online, but after our first date, we both knew we were meant for each other! We spent as much time together as possible, exploring new places throughout California, like San Francisco and Hearst’s Castle, all the while discovering how much we just clicked. I have always been shy around new people, but I felt instantly comfortable with Scott and I could talk to him about anything. We both feel fortunate that we were raised as Christians by our families and that we both share similar views on God being an important part of our lives to give us perspective on what’s important in life.

Work and Play

We are both teachers, which we are passionate about and find very fulfilling on a personal level. Jennifer teaches a Reading class to struggling students at a charter high school and loves helping her students become more successful at reading, which has always been difficult for her students throughout their lives. Scott is a dedicated middle school teacher who does everything he can to help his students do well in school. Scott has been named ‘Teacher of The Year’ twice by his school district because of his passion for teaching. His love of History is infectious and he gets the kids excited about it, too!  Being a teacher also means our child will have one of us right there at the same school to keep an eye on him/her during their school years and not with babysitters after school. Our jobs also allow us to be on the same schedule, so we enjoy our summer breaks together and will allow us to spend family time with our child. We are both excited to help our child be successful in school and see to it that our child goes on to a good college in order to pursue his/her dreams.

When not at work we love to do activities available throughout Orange County. Since we live only 20 miles away from Anaheim, we have annual passes to Disneyland.  We enjoy going every month to Disneyland to take some of the rides, or see the fireworks at night after work. Our two favorite rides are ‘Soaring Over California’ in California Adventure and ‘Buzz Lightyear’ in Disneyland. We also enjoy watching the Angels play baseball during the summer months in Anaheim. We like to go to the beach in San Clemente each month. We can’t wait to share all of these things as a family and take thousands of pictures during family outings to these places and more!

Our Family

Scott JenWe are blessed to each have a close-knit family who love us and support us each and every day.  Both of our parents have remained married for over 35 years and supported us in all of our dreams and ambitions. We are so lucky to have a sister and a brother, and our cute little nephew and niece. Our entire family lives in southern California that will be part of our family structure. They are so excited that we are adopting a baby!
We are also very fortunate to have a group of friends who consider family and whom all have kids of their own. We spend time with them celebrating kids’ and adults’ birthdays, 4th of July and New Years Eve, having backyard BBQs, our annual trip to Mammoth Lakes, and some weekend fun trips. We can’t wait for our child to have these close friends and their kids join our family in celebrating birthdays at our place and sharing in these fun adventures!
We would be remiss not to mention the last member of our family-our beautiful, chocolate striped greyhound by the name of Poker. We adopted Poker from a greyhound rescue foundation when he was three years old after he retired from racing in Mexico.  Poker is the sweetest natured dog who loves people-he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body!

Scott about Jen

Jen is the most amazing woman I have ever known! She is so devoted to her family and to her friends. Jen is very modest, so most people don’t know that she was on the U.S. National Tae-Kwon-Do Team and placed 3rd in the World Championships. When we first started dating, my friends would tease me saying, “You better be careful-she could actually kick your butt!”  Jen can be very silly at times and makes funny faces to make me laugh-I call her my little ‘Goof Ball!’ I can honestly also say that I have NEVER known anyone who has such a rapport with children-they always come to her, whether they are our nephew and niece or our friends’ kids. I tease her and call her the “Pied Piper” because kids follow her everywhere. She is so patient with kids and loves to play with little children. Jen’s love of children is why she trained young children in Tae-Kwon-Do when she was in college and why she got her degree in Education and became an amazing teacher! She loves to spend time with children each and every day! I know my wonderful wife will be an amazing Mom and that she aches to share her abundant love with her own child.

Jen about Scott

I love Scott because he is such a moral man and can make me smile with his dry sense of humor. Scott is an old-fashioned romantic and does the “little things” just to show me how much he loves me. He always opens my car door or the door to a store to let me in first, and sometimes, shows up at home with flowers to say, “I love you!” I love Scott because he is very clever with a sense of humor in almost any situation. His ability to make me smile is something I treasure about him. Scott so wants to be a Dad to his own child and I know he’d be a great Dad! Scott vacationed with his family and often tells me how much he looks forward to doing the same with his own family in the future. With Scott and I both having Summers off from work, we look forward to taking our child to places we loved to go when we were growing up, like Yosemite National Park, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, and trips through Europe. I know Scott will be a great role model for our child and spend lots of time with our child doing weekend activities.Scott Jen

We want to thank you again for taking the time to learn a little about us. We are so excited to become parents and promise that we will love the child we are blessed with every single day of our lives! Our thoughts and prayers go with you as you make this difficult decision in your life.

Forever Grateful,
Jen and Scott
