Dear Birth Mother,
We first met at our Sunday School Bible Study, and we have been married for eight wonderful years. These eight years have allowed us to weave our lives together. We have grown and changed together. Scripture reading and prayer are so much a part of our lives. We have established that we would actively be a part of our church. We minister together in our Sunday School Information and CD Ministry. Greg was born in New York, but at the age of three, the family moved to the Philippines. He attended school there throughout college and received his degree in Communication Arts. At the age of 20, he returned here to the U.S. and eventually earned his teaching credential. He is very active in his school and highly respected. Greg has taught all grades, but his favorite is Kindergarten, which he taught for four fun-filled years. He currently teaches 5th. Greg enjoys working with his hands. He also enjoys sketching, watercolor, playing his classical guitar, and cycling. He has a collection of fountain pens and a few old Bibles. Carol writes: What attracted me to Greg was his warm personality and his genuine interest in whomever he interacts with. I am so thankful for his rural upbringing and being raised with six siblings. I never tire of his stories of "jungle" adventures. What I admire most about him are his artistic and creative abilities. He is also able to fix anything around the house; I think this all comes from years of being a Boy Scout. Greg's love for his students shows me how great a dad he will be. Carol was born and raised in California. She spent her formidable years, and beyond, on a ranch on the Central Coast. She attended a Christian College in Southern California, where she received her degree in Liberal Studies and her teaching credential. She taught first grade for nine years at a Christian school. Carol is now a substitute teacher and a stay-at-home wife. She enjoys working in her English garden, caring for the home, and collecting vintage pottery. Greg writes: Carol is the woman I prayed for. Carol has a very soft but big heart. She is a very loving and tender woman. She is practical in so many ways, but strives for quality in the things that she does. Growing up on the ranch taught her immeasurable things and lessons that carry her on in life. She was very close with her grandparents and still sheds tears when she hears her grandma's favorite church hymns. She is very diligent with her responsibilities as she keeps our home very warm and clean. She enjoys looking for great deals and bargains that make our home what it is. What is also very admirable about Carol is that she has the heart of a mother. She has been preparing herself for this role for years now. Not only has she been preparing her mind, but also her heart. I am very confident that Carol will make a wonderful mother. We have many common interests and enjoy doing things together. We enjoy going to flea markets, antique stores, garage and estate sales. We enjoy traveling when we can. Carol has even learned to travel with just a backpack. We do not collect the same things but we tend to encourage each other to buy something the other likes. We also enjoy going tent camping, playing golf together, and most of the time, just being home. We live in a two bedroom home built in 1910 that retains all the original crown moldings, oak floors, and built-ins that give it a warm character. Over the last eight years, we have adapted some of our own families' holiday traditions, but have also started our own. We especially celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas, which are special to us and these are holidays that are celebrated around family. We have very closely knit families. We rally around each other when there is a need. There is very strong support and ties. Our families have been very supportive of our decision to adopt. Carol has three nieces and one nephew. Greg has five nieces and five nephews. After unsuccessfully trying to conceive a child for five years, because the Lord has laid it in our hearts to still have a child, we are praying that He will bless our efforts to have a child or children through adoption. We know that while we have desired to have children, God has been preparing us these last eight years to be parents. If it is His will that one day we will be blessed with a child, we know that that child will be loved and will be raised in the security of a home: A home built by our love for the Lord, to each other, and a special love for our child. Our child will be raised in a loving and secured environment; he/she will have the benefit of many books, be surrounded by hands-on art opportunities, and will grow up in a life of exploration and pleasant memories. Carol will be a stay-home mom to meet the needs of our child. Since we live in a large metropolitan area, we will expose our child to many activities to participate in and to explore. We will endeavor to teach our child God's word, His love, and His blessings. Greetings! We are Greg and Carol, and we have the honor and privilege to introduce ourselves to you and allow for you to know us. We realize that the decision to place your child for adoption is a very difficult one, but also a very selfless act. The life of your baby is precious in God's eyes and to all of us. As you endeavor to make these very important decisions for your child, we will pray that the Lord will give you wisdom in all discernment as you make choices that are best for him/her, and that the Lord will give you peace.
